Seven Brethren, Barnstaple – Site Clearance Project

Our team was commissioned by a major commercial client to undertake extensive tree works on a brownfield development site in Barnstaple — involving the removal and management of over 150 trees.

The project took place during bird nesting season, requiring careful ecological supervision. Working closely with an on-site ecologist, we carried out detailed inspections using a cherry picker to identify any active bird nests or potential bat roosts. This ensured all work was completed responsibly and in full compliance with environmental regulations.

To efficiently process the felled trees, we deployed our 9-ton excavator with grab attachment, clearing and stacking timber and brash for biomass recycling. A Magni Roto Telehandler with a mechanical felling head enabled the safe removal of a large group of conifers and the pollarding of poplars along the riverbank.

The project was completed on budget and ahead of schedule, with all materials responsibly removed and recycled. This job showcased our ability to deliver large-scale, environmentally conscious site clearance — combining safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
